ATEMS @ New Tech Conference

Good Afternoon Parents,

My staff and I are all in attendance at the New Tech Network All-Schools Conference in Chicago.
We are enjoying our time learning, collaborating, and networking with educators from across the United States. There are 61 New Tech schools in attendance with over 600 people in attendance. I have attended training that has focused on overall School Culture, Web 2.0 programs, and Community Service programs for high schools. In addition, I have had a chance to network with the 6 other Texas principals. I've learned a lot about their successes and struggles during the past school year as well as shared with them our successes and struggles. I look forward to bringing back to Abilene, an enthusiastic and excited faculty that will be ready to implement best practices strategies that we have picked up through this experience. I'll continue to share more throughout the week. I hope all is well in Abilene, Texas and I look forward to getting the next school year rolling.

summer activities @ ATEMS

Good Morning,

As we go through this summer, I am excitingly anticipating the beginning of our next school year. As you know, our move to TSTC gives us stability and satisfaction. Our high school program fits nicely with the educational goals of TSTC. As students learn more about engineering and computer science through ATEMS, the connection to TSTC will become more meaningful.

I am also very excited about the new students that have applied to become our next class of incoming freshmen. We have big dreams for these students. And it begins with getting to know them and their families personally. We have our first Volleyball Night @ Sonics on Judge Ely from 6-8PM on Tuesday, June 29th, 2010. Don't forget, we also will be having our first Rocket Camp hosted by TTU at TSTC next week, June 28-July 2. We hope the students in attendance at the camp will get excited about their education and begin to look at the possibilities in engineering and computer science.

More summer activities can be found on our campus website. The link is http://abilene.region14.net/webs/atems/. Please bookmark our site and my blog to keep up to date with activities at ATEMS. We currently have 3 Volleyball Nights, a swimming party, and game night on the calendar. We also will be holding our first annual New Student Orientation on August 4th, 2010 from 9am - 3pm at TSTC. This event will be hosted by students who currently attend ATEMS and want to share their experiences with incoming students.

Please don't hesitate to contact me with your questions or concerns. We are continuing to recruit incoming 9th and 10th graders for next year, so if you know of students and families that are interested in attending, please encourage them to fill out an application or visit me at ATEMS. Our upcoming Parent Information Nights are June 24 and July 15 at 6pm at TSTC. These meetings are for parents that are wanting to learn more about our school.

Hope your summer continues to go well.
